Can symbolic links be used in Lion Server to place podcasts on a non-system internal drive?

Rather than reinstalling Lion Server to set up RAID for the internal drives and lose the recover partition, etc., will symbolic links work to place content such as podcasts on a non-system internal drive? If so, what is the best option.

Lion Server-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.2), Lion Server PostgreSQL
